**Little Lisa**: This Edmund Lowe tune was a perennial favorite from the band The Like in 1989. Ted recorded his version, again enlisting Thomas Van Deven on slide.

In 1994, riding a bit of momentum, we recorded a debut album comprised of about 20 hastily recorded songs I wrote over the preceeding 4 years.

Not being particularly smart or seasoned, the band recorded all of these songs in a couple of weeks in our guitarist's parents house and threw them all on a compact disc to sell at shows.

While the CD gave the band something to sell at shows, and gave the major radio station in Atlanta - 99x - something to play on their Locals Only show - it just wasn't something I was particularly proud of.

Half the songs were just plain shit. The other half that ranged from decent to good weren't recorded particularly well. Most were recorded on an 8 track TASCAM recorder and mixed quickly. Peformances were raw and not particularly tight. All told, the CD served a purpose, but I long wished I had given the songs (the ones that were worthy, at least) a better birthing.

So, after years of learning to get decent recordings at home, I embarked on taking the 10 best songs from NTFT and reworking them in to a newly recorded album.

### Personnel

Warren Van Wyck played drums on three tracks - 'Tengo Un Secreto', 'Three Cheers', and 'Undone'.

Thomas Van Deven played slide guitar on 'Helping Hands' and 'Invisible'.

Dima Faustov added horns to 'Tengo Un Secreto' and 'Clay Henry's Last Call'.

Ted's daughter Zoe contributed vocals to 'Skanking 'Round the Christmas Tree'.

Edmund Lowe contriuted backgroud vocals to 'Big Brother'.

All other instruments - guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals - were performed by me.

A primer, of sorts.

The relaunch of TedLee.us - the desintation for Ted Lee and his music

After an extended hiatus (PR speak for early retirement), I'm back at the music making thing. For those unfamiliar with me, here's the cliff notes catch-up.

### 1988

Release 4 song EP with the band Scuff as the bands drummer.

### 1990

After a 18 month stint with the NH band 'The Like', I pull up stakes and move to Atlanta. I also trade in my drumsticks for a bass guitar.

### 1994

My band 'Clay Henry' self record and release 'No Taang For Ted', a hastily recorded CD that garners local airplay on 99x and helps Clay Henry win the 1994 99x Battle of the Bands.

### 1995

Clay Henry contracts to a 3 piece band and records 'Supersize'. The band tours the east coast during the summer of '95 before imploding in Rome, GA in October.

### 1996

Clay Henry MK II plays a handful of dates. This iteration of the band is notable for me swapping bass duties for guitar duties.

### 1997

Form 'The Darwins' and record and release the eclectic CD 'Kamikaze Kama Sutra'. 'The Darwins' last about a year before suffering a Fleetwod Mac style implosion.

### 1997

Asked to join the local Atlanta band 'The Flinch'. Record the 2nd Flinch album on Centennial Records 'Tocadisco' at Casino Studios in Atlanta, produced and engineered by Caram Costanzo.

### 1999

Record the CD interactice single 'Besides the Music' with Ted's song 'I Can Tell' on one side. The CD includes the interactive video parody of VH1's Behind The Music. The video is available for viewing on [YouTube](https://youtu.be/o5Yrnbdxu0k?si=due0oJ-I0jJSe0A8).

### 2000

After the Black Crowe's inspired implosion of the Flinch, Ted goes back to his roots and plays drums again with remaining Flinch members in the band, 'The Modeltones', who, after a couple of years, morph in to the Americana-esque band 'Stovall'

### 2009

Ted plays drums on Stovall's full length album '[True Story](https://music.apple.com/us/album/true-story/320870359)'.

### 2009

Ted records and releases 'Cuckoo Singing in the Cuckoo Berry Tree' on iTunes. The album is now out of print but newly recorded versions of the songs are available on the streaming services.

### 2024

After a 15 year break from music, Ted's back with a re-recorded version of 'No Taang For Ted', titled '[Clay Henry's Last Call](https://music.apple.com/us/album/clay-henrys-last-call/1748210214)'.

### 2025

Several singles recorded and released to the streaming services over the course of the year. See the [Music](/music) page for links and details.

### 2026

Work is nearing completion on the re-recording of the 1995 Clay Henry album 'Supersize'. Check back this summer for details.
